Proud Auntie of Young Hydes

On April 5, 2020 the Hyde family experienced a very devastating loss when our very own Jason Hyde died unexpectedly at the age of 41. Among countless friends and extended family, Jason is survived by his wife and 3 children, the youngest. Mabel (pictured above at her 1 year birthday) was a little over 1 month old when it happened.

...and his unexpectant death brought an overwhelming amount of tasks for my niece to now navigate, while also trying to cope with the crushing grief, and dealing with the day to day challenges of a pandemic. But life shows you what you need to do.

Although never having children (by choice) ourselves, my husband and I have had the privilege to truly honor our nephew in the most important way, by becoming part of the 'pod' --- the tight group of uncles, cousins, friends and others who show up daily for Jay's 3 precious children, and have committed to do whatever we can to help our niece navigate her new reality.

Of all of the roles I have had in my life, being 'auntiejoyce' has truly been and is the most important one I have ever done (hence the email).
